Thread by Thread, Colour by Colour: Special Edition “Traditional Costumes of Montenegro”

Montenegrin Coluring Book presents another special edition that brings together art, history, and creativity – National Costumes of Montenegro. Through carefully crafted illustrations and authentic representations, this colouring book allows children (and adults) to connect in a creative way with the rich tradition of Montenegrin national costumes.

Created in cooperation with the International Women’s Club of Montenegro, this edition takes you on a journey through time, through the garments worn by our ancestors – whether as everyday clothing or for special occasions. Each region of Montenegro has its own distinctive expression, reflected in the traditional costumes that tell the most interesting stories of Montenegrin heritage.

As in the past, so it is today – these costumes are much more than clothing. They embody the identity, origin, status, and values of a people. That is why every page and illustration in this colouring book tells a story of people, customs, and the era from which it originates.

In traditional costumes, red symbolises courage, black represents resilience and loyalty, while gold embroidery signifies honour and prestige. Men’s and women’s costumes are shaped by a wealth of details, cuts, and symbols that have, over the centuries, conveyed social status, family affiliation, and regional identity.

Like other editions of Montenegrin Coluring Book, this colouring book has a clear goal: to encourage children and adults, through creative activity, to have fun while learning, and to explore the cultural heritage of Montenegro.

This colouring book invites you to step into the world of Montenegrin costumes through colouring and exploration – to bring them to life with colour, to connect with the past, and to carry part of that tradition into the present. Each page is a call to imagination, creativity, and the preservation of a valuable part of Montenegro’s cultural identity.
